My NightScapes are exposures of the night sky with a landscape feature. All are evening time exposures. The starry night sky with Milky Way are a favorite subject. Special techniques are used with off-the-shelf digital cameras and lenses in order expose the night stars without blurring (trails) them. Some land features are enhanced with light painting. Please note that many images will have considerable "graininess" or digital noise due to the high ISO speeds required to do this type of night photography (capturing the stars and the land features in
one unique exposure). DOWNLOADS: Many of my NightScapes are available as HD personal use downloads (about 1920 x 1080 pixels) for $2.99 at my
500px store. To license these photos for any publication use, email me: royce.bair AT gmail DOT com
At about 3:45 AM, the moon finally set, and shortly after, I was able to get this exposure of a meteor streaking between the Big Dipper and Polaris. (My goal was to get away from the light pollution of Salt Lake City, in order to photograph the Quadrantid meteor shower yesterday morning! These salt flats are near Wendover, Nevada -- about 100 miles from SLC, Utah.) It was a frigid 23-degrees F. on this morning!
