I was remotely lighting this 750-feet wide formation from the right (with 2-million candlepower), when the moon began to rise just to the left. So, I quickly set up my light about 1,000 feet to the left to simulate light coming from the rising moon.

Milky Way star canopy over the narrow 'Wall Street' canyon in Bryce Canyon National Park. Light painting at night shows orange and red rock formations  which rise about 700 feet above this popular hiking trail on the 'Navajo Loop'. This extremely wide angle photo, look virtually straight up, was taken with an LF 15mm f2.8 Fisheye (180-degree view diagonally) lens on the full-frame Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
