This large corner support with its two bracing limbs are some of interior lodgepole pine construction details in this series. Old Faithful Inn is a spectacular log (lodgepole pine) hotel that was initially built in the wunter of 1903-1904. It is the largest log hotel in the world and possibly even the largest log building in the world. There have been several additions made over the years to this building, but this lobby is original to 1903-1904. It remains a prime example of the "Golden Age" of rustic resort architecture (Robert Reamer was the architect).
Interior details of lodgepole pine construction. Old Faithful Inn is a spectacular log hotel in Yellowstone National Park that was initially built in the winter of 1903-1904. Construction of the inn was mainly using locally-obtained materials including lodgepole pine (the bark was later removed in 1940). When it first opened in the Spring of 1904, it boasted electric lights and steam heat. Old Faithful Inn is the largest log hotel in the world and possibly even the largest log building in the world. There have been several additions made over the years to this building, but this lobby is original to 1903-1904. It remains a prime example of the "Golden Age" of rustic resort architecture (Robert Reamer was the architect).
