Here is a photo-postcard he issued in 1907 showing the killing of several cows and spike buffalo. It was from this Montana/Wyoming herd that a final 23 individuals took shelter in the Pelican Valley area of Yellowstone. It is from these last survivors that the current herd of Yellowstone bison descended!
